Facts about our fish and chips
All our fish comes from managed sustainable stocks with traceable provenance.
We use only fresh potatoes (Maris Piper or similar) which are prepared daily on the premises.
We are dolphin friendly. We don’t sell any ‘sport’ fish like Swordfish or Tuna.
Our vegetable oil is continually changed, all the waste oil is collected and recycled into bio fuel.
We use a thick cut chip for a lower absorbency of oil to provide a much healtheir product.
A good reason to order large fish ‘n’ chips.
The UK Fishing industry monitors the size of mesh nets used. Fine mesh used results in immature ‘small-fry’ being caught. This type of fish has not spawned, and as a result the numbers of fish dwindle to an unsustainable level.

The perfect way to spend
an evening |
Since opening in autumn 2007 The Mermaids Tail has quickly established itself as one of the finest fish and chip restaurants in London. The way we cook and the relaxed way the staff look after you in the restaurant is our idea of what a perfect evening out should be like.
The Atmosphere
The atmosphere is what makes The Mermaids Tail so unique. It is certainly laid back in that we have no strict dress code. We are a restaurant that caters for; lunch with friends or colleagues or romantic couples on an evening out. There is something for everyone.
The Food
Our philosophy is to produce the finest fish and chips whilst being environmentally aware. All the fish we use is from a sustainable source with traceable provenance. We are dolphin friendly, refusing to sell any ‘sport’ fish, including Swordfish or Tuna. We also change our oil continually, collecting the waste oil for recycling into biofuel. We offer a wide choice of fish including; cod, haddock, monkfish and lemon sole. An added bonus is you can choose how it is battered, gluten free, pale ale beer batter or an exclusive vodka, lemon and chilli batter.
